Rani Mukerji is one of those few actresses who don’t refrain from calling a spade a spade.
These days there’s lot of pressure actors have to face when it comes to maintaining their bodies or their appearance and Rani offered a very interesting take on this, “Frankly I don’t understand this pressure because I feel that today actors are really spoiled and pampered. There are PR person, media person, manager, fitness trainer and the never ending list. We were never pampered this way. We used to do our work and if sometimes we would end up saying something wrong, we used to get even scolded for that but from that we used to learn so much. But these days the PRs have a complete list of ‘Yeh bolo, yeh mat bolo. Do this don’t do that’ so you see the actors these days are taken so much care of that I don’t think they have any kind of pressure with all these trainings and guidance. They wear rented clothes so what kind of pressure they are having? (smiles). Aapko khoobsurat kapde pehenne ko mil rahe hai, log aapko tayar kar rahe hai, itna khoobsurat bana rahe hai toh kis baat ka pressure hai bhai?”
Rani Mukerji is all set to enthrall the audience with her upcoming film HICHKI. The actress will be seen on silver screen after a four year hiatus. In the film Rani plays the role of a teacher who is having Tourette Syndrome.Talking about how playing role of a differently abled roles affects her as an actor Rani shared, “The life that god has given is so special like when I had researched for my character in BLACK or HICHKI I started thanking god every day because suddenly you feel so blessed that you can see, hear, talk move your limbs, and do everything without anyone’s aid! So when you go through moments like that in your life you only become more humbled as a human being and all the other things stop to matter. You suddenly gain lot of wisdom through these experiences and you start to live truly. So when people tell me that despite being in this industry how I can survive without being on social media? I find that really funny because it’s not important to me or for my life! If some people are giving it so much importance then it’s their problem. All these PRship is of what use because if you actually see then everything boils down to the fact whether I was good in my film or not?”

Ever since the announcement of PADMAAVAT (earlier titled PADMAVATI) controversies refuse to haunt the film as well as the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. CBFC cleared PADMAVATI giving it U/A certificate but asked the makers to change the title of the film just to highlight the fact that it is a work based on epic poem ‘Padmavat’ by Malik Muhammad Jayasi and is in no way based on any historical figure. The controversies regarding the film led to shuffle in not just its name but its release date as well which eventually impacted the entire industry as every other filmmakers made sure that their film is neither releasing right after/before nor with PADMAAVAT.
It’s sad to see certain section of the society being prejudiced towards Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project PADMAAVAT that stars Deepika Padukone in titular role even before watching it. With the film now being tentatively banned in almost 6 states the producers of the film are running from post to pillar to get the ban lifted. With just a week left for the film’s release instead of promoting their film the makers of the film are simply concentrating on a smooth release of the film.
